The books, Back Channel to Cuba: The Hidden History of Negotiations Between Washington and Havana (The University of North Carolina Press, 2014), by the U.S. researchers William. M. Leogrande and Peter Kornbluh, and De la confrontación a los intentos de "normalización": La política de los Estados Unidos hacia Cuba (From confrontation to attempts at "normalization": The Politics of the United States towards Cuba) (extended edition, Ciencias Sociales, 2014), by the Cubans Elier Ramírez Cañedo and Esteban Morales Domínguez, were presented yesterday in the sala Villena of the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC). Both texts were introduced and commented on, in the presence of their authors, by Ramón Sánchez-Parodi Montoto, former head of the Cuban Interests Section in Washington and prologue writer of the second book. Among other personalities, attending the event were Fernando González, Hero of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Barnet, President of UNEAC, and Zuleica Romay Guerra, President of the Cuban Book Institute. Parodi considered that the presentation of both books was of singular importance "because we have the United States and Cuban viewpoints on the same topic which complement each other and are close in their view, whilst each has its own characteristics." Peter Kornbluh considered it an honor and a dream to be presenting this book that discusses "a story that has not received the attention it needs to receive. This is our mission, to find a story of civil dialogue between the two nations. " William. M. Leogrande, who also provided details about the nature of these relationships, stated that the present moment could serve as a great opportunity.
