On the afternoon of June 25, Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, President of the Councils of State and Ministers, received Wang Yang, deputy prime minister of China’s Council of State and member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, on a work visit to the country.

Both dignitaries confirmed the excellent state of bilateral ties, and congratulated each other on the 55th anniversary of the establishment of uninterrupted diplomatic and fraternal relations between both States.

Compañero Wang Yang was accompanied by Zhang Yesui, deputy minister of Foreign Relations; Zhang Tuo, Chinese ambassador to Cuba and Yu Yue, advisor at the Ministry of Foreign Relations’ Latin American and Caribbean department. Participating on the Cuban side were Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, a vice president of the Council of Ministers; Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla and Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz, ministers of Foreign Relations and Foreign Trade and Investment, respectively.

Previous to the encounter, the Chinese deputy prime minister and Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, held a fruitful meeting in which they addressed issues on the economic-bilateral trade agenda. In addition, the distinguished visitor met with Bruno Rodríguez Pa­rrilla, a member of the Party Political Bureau and minister of Foreign Relations, with whom he discussed important issues on the international agenda and collaboration between both countries.
