OFFICIAL VOICE OF THE COMMUNIST PARTY OF CUBA CENTRAL COMMITTEE

The Children, Youth and Women’s Rights Commission honored Deputy Raúl Acuña Benítez, a member of the committee, who died on the afternoon of July 6, despite doctors’ efforts to save his life.
The National Assembly member, who had been elected to this current legislature in the municipality of San José de las Lajas (Mayabeque province), was a History and Philosophy graduate and had worked as a philosophy teacher at different levels throughout the education system.
He stood out in meetings for his insightful contributions; just yesterday morning Acuña Benítez had given a thoughtful analysis during commission debates, held in one of the Havana Convention Center’s function rooms.
He also served as a trade union leader and participated in the 18th Congress of the Cuban Workers’ Federation; was a delegate to the First National Conference of the Communist Party of Cuba, and a member of the Party Provincial Committee in Mayabeque.
He worked as a senior specialist at a local basic unit of production involved in aquaculture.
