The President of Cuba’s Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, on June 22 received the President of India, his Excellency Ram Nath Kovind, who made an official visit to the country.
During the cordial meeting, both leaders expressed their satisfaction with the positive development of bilateral relations, a reflection of the friendly ties shared by their countries’ governments and peoples. They agreed to continue strengthening cooperation in the economic-commercial area, in investment, science, technology, and renewable energy resources, while also addressing issues on the international agenda.
After concluding official talks, the two leaders witnessed the signing of two memoranda of understanding in the biotechnology and health sectors.
Accompanying the distinguished guest were Vishnu Deo Sai, minister of State for Steel and Mines; as well as Parliament members Dinesh Kashyap and Nityanand Rai; Ms. Preeti Saran, secretary for Eastern affairs at the Foreign Ministry; and the Honorable Ms. Madhu Sethi, the country’s ambassador in Cuba; as well as other members of the delegation.
Also participating on the Cuban side were Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla; Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz; Deputy Foreign Minister Rogelio Sierra Díaz; and Cuba’s ambassador in India, Oscar Martínez Cordovés.
