
The President of the Councils of State and Ministers, and member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, received on Thursday afternoon compañero Ri Su-yong, a vice chairman of Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, and member of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, who is currently visiting Cuba.
During the cordial meeting, both parties discussed the excellent state of bilateral relations and the traditional bonds of friendship that unite the two nations. The Cuban President expressed his gratitude for the hospitality received during his official visit to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea last year, and recalled with satisfaction the exchange held with Kim Jong-un, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission and Workers’ Party of Korea.
The distinguished visitor was accompanied by Pak Myong Guk, DPRK Deputy Foreign Minister, and Ma Chol Su, ambassador to Havana.
Participating on the Cuban side were Marcelino Medina, interim minister of Foreign Affairs, and Juan Carlos Marsán, deputy head of the International Relations Department of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee.
