The Communist Party of Cuba must be broad, all encompassing, “above all, in terms of everything to do with the country’s prosperity and development, from food to recreation, including scientific development, greater spiritual riches, wellbeing, and also advance design thinking about what is functional, what is beautiful, so that our development be truly comprehensive.”
These were among the words of Party First Secretary and President of the Republic Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, during a visit to San José de las Lajas in the province of Mayabeque.
He added that Party branches must be well informed of the “concerns of our members, of the population in the environment where they work, and these are the issues we must discuss,” according to the Presidency’s website.
During a local Party meeting, also attended by Political Bureau member and head of Organization and Cadre Policy for the organization’s, Roberto Morales Ojeda, Díaz-Canel insisted that branch meetings must be less routine and “focus on projecting solutions to the cardinal problems we have; and, as has been very wisely stated here, everything is of concern to the Party and we must address it all, with Party methods, without supplanting the administration, the government or mass organizations.”
