According to their length of service, workers of branch schools, teaching and training centers and institutions subordinated to agencies of the Central Administration of the State, national entities, administrative directorates of the People's Power and other organizations will receive an extension of the additional payment.
This is established in Resolution 3 of 2025, issued by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, informed its Director of Labor Organization, Guillermo Sarmiento Cabanas.
The document, included in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Cuba number 39, published on April 23, covers more than 5,700 people and establishes a differentiation between teaching staff and researchers and the rest of the employees.
For the former, said the specialist, the increase will range from 1,000 to 3,000 pesos, on a scale that starts at five years of seniority and goes up to 30 years. Beyond that limit, 400 pesos will be increased every two years. Non-teaching personnel will receive half of these benefits.
Meanwhile, he added, Resolution 4, reflected in the same Gazette, provides for the doubling of the amount of night work, from 50 to 100 pesos, for the specialties of Anesthesiology and Reanimation, Neonatology, Pediatric Intensive Care Medicine and Adult Intensive Care Medicine of the budgeted sector.
The night shift will be from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., but Saturday shifts will also be subject to this measure, starting at noon, and on Sundays, after 7 a.m., Sarmiento Cabanas explained.
In addition, an additional 20 pesos per hour will be paid for high performance, that is to say, for highly complex work. In total, more than 6,800 doctors will receive an average of 7,000 pesos above their scale salary.
Nursing assistants who care for patients in nursing homes, psycho-pedagogical medical centers and psychiatric hospitals will receive the additional payment of the social economic interest coefficient of 45% on their salary, which translates into approximately 1,200 pesos, he announced.
A retroactive payment will be made as of January 1, 2025 for the cases specified in both resolutions. “This is not a closed chapter, we evaluated all the most sensitive issues addressed by our Ministry,” Sarmiento Cabanas assured.
