
The Political Bureau of the Party's Central Committee has agreed to promote comrade Yoerky Sánchez Cuellar to the position of Editor-in-chief of Granma newspaper.
Yoerky, 41, is a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, a Deputy in the National Assembly of People's Power, and a member of the Council of State.
A 2007 journalism graduate, he has held various positions, including editor-reporter at Vanguardia newspaper of Villa Clara and Editor-in-chief of Alma Mater magazine, owned by Abril Publishing House. In 2014, he began his career at Juventud Rebelde newspaper, serving as department head, deputy editor, and, from 2017 to the present, as its Editor-in-chief.
In his place, it was agreed to promote comrade Yuniel Labacena Romero, a 36-year-old member of the National Committee of the Union of Young Communists, to the leadership of Juventud Rebelde newspaper. Since graduating with a degree in Journalism in 2014, he has remained at the newspaper, assuming various responsibilities such as editor-reporter, head of National Information, and deputy editor
