Thousands of books from Mexico, bound for the 30th Havana International Book Fair, to be held February 10- 20, arrived in the capital January 16 on the Mexican Navy's Huasteco, the ship designated to facilitate the country’s logistics for the event.
With this landing, the sister country launches its efforts as the featured guest, for the second time, at Cuba’s largest cultural festival which takes place every year, and is a clear demonstration of the bonds of friendship shared by the two nations.
Mexican ambassador in Cuba Miguel Diaz Reynoso and Juan Rodriguez Cabrera, president of the Cuban Book Institute, attended the reception at the port, and expressed their satisfaction with the arrival of such an important cultural cargo, reflecting a love for reading and providing another opportunity for the population to come into contact with Latin American literature, poetry, Mexican narratives and Aztec song.
On February 4, the Huasteco, which also carried a donation for cultural and educational institutions, will visit Cuba again soon, bearing personnel from the Mexican Ministry of Culture and the Navy who will participate in the Fair.
