GAZA.— Weapons used by Israel in its recent attacks on the Gaza Strip contaminated the soil and water with toxic substances.

Several farms in Palestinian territory were destroyed by Israeli bombs and bulldozers during the 50-day attack.

The damages to the agricultural sector are estimated at 500 million dollars, Al Manar reported.

"Nearly 5,000 acres of the most productive land and several farms were destroyed. Over 300 highways were also destroyed as well as irrigation ditches. This has contributed to soil contamination, which now threatens our lives," the Minister for Agriculture, Nazir Wahidi explained.

The toxic weapons used by Israel during its attacks on Gaza have prevented much of the Strip from being farmed. Israel also continues to appropriate Palestine’s natural resources, especially water, which worsens the situation for the population.

2,130 Palestinians were killed and 11,000 injured during the attacks on Gaza. According to sources from the Zionist state, some 70 Israelis were killed, almost all soldiers. (Al Manar)
