OFFICIAL VOICE OF THE COMMUNIST PARTY OF CUBA CENTRAL COMMITTEE

Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, member of the Political Bureau and Minister of Foreign Affairs, described the statements of the US Secretary of State as "cynical, hypocritical, and mendacious," referring to the new sanctions issued this Thursday against the Business Administration Group SA (GAESA) and Moa Nickel SA.
These measures were announced in a press release from the US State Department, pursuant to Executive Order (E.O.) 14404 of May 1, 2026, imposing sanctions on those responsible for repression in Cuba and threats to U.S. national security and foreign policy.
“The actions he designs, promotes on behalf of the U.S. government, and proposes to its President, based on his personal agenda,” the Foreign Minister stated on social media, “are clearly aimed at causing the greatest possible harm to the Cuban people and families, without any excuse whatsoever.”
“As a pretext, he resorts to slander, blatant lies, and the illusion that he can deceive those who listen to him,” he added, referring to the argument used by the White House to intensify the blockade against Cuba, alleging that the Caribbean nation represents an urgent threat to U.S. national security, and that, just 90 miles from U.S. territory, the Cuban regime has turned the island “into a platform for foreign intelligence, military, and terrorist operations.”
In this regard, the head of Cuban diplomacy emphasized that “the U.S. aggression against Cuba is a collective punishment of a genocidal nature that condemns the entire nation and uses it as a hostage for purposes of domination. The world will not allow it and is mobilizing,” he asserted.
With these additional measures, he emphasized, “the U.S. government confirms its genocidal intent against the Cuban nation and dispels any doubt about the falsity of its pretexts for attacking our country.”
Rodríguez Parrilla insisted on the extraterritorial nature of the sanctions, pointing out that this action “rests on the belief that it can impose its will on the rest of the world’s governments, whose citizens and businesspeople are threatened by the illegitimate coercion of the U.S. government.”
