Political Bureau member and Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla denounced this Wednesday, via social media, "a transnational right-wing political-media influence infrastructure in Latin America and the Caribbean centered around Fernando Cerimedo, which reaches all the way to the Secretary of State."
According to the Foreign Minister, an investigation presented by the Cubadebate Media Observatory maintains that in Miami, "a platform has been built to coordinate Latin American presidential campaigns, ideologically driven media outlets, political consultants, organizations within the Cuban-American ecosystem, and sectors of the Republican Party with the capacity to influence U.S. hemispheric policy."
The text states that Cerimedo, an Argentine businessman arrested in Bolivia last week, accused of organizing an armed attack against his ex-partner, was charged by the Prosecutor's Office with attempted femicide, while an investigation was also opened for alleged illicit enrichment.
"His political connections," the investigation insists, "reveal a regional network associated with negative campaigns, disinformation, and aggressive digital strategies."
Among these, it refers to "Jair Bolsonaro in Brazil, where he disseminated the false claim of electoral fraud in 2022; Javier Milei in Argentina, for whose 2023 presidential campaign he was a key operative in the digital strategy; the 'Reject' bloc in the Chilean constitutional plebiscite, where his company was linked to disinformation operations; and, more recently, Rodrigo Paz in Bolivia, where he joined as a political advisor. Links to or support for Patricia Bullrich in Argentina, Nasry Asfura in Honduras, and other figures on the regional right have also been documented."
It is known that, in his work with the continental right, he makes intensive use of social media, political segmentation, partisan media, and, in several instances, false or misleading content to undermine adversaries and shape public discourse. However, the most significant, yet least visible, aspect is that his true center of operations is the United States.
In this regard, it is noted that he also benefited from his privileged connections with key power structures within the Trump administration, particularly with Marco Rubio.
