As yet without medals, Cuba's presence is being felt in the Río Summer Games, with the men's beach volleyball duo of Nivaldo Díaz and Sergio González defeating Brazil.
Highlights for the Cuban delegation's first days include Dayaris Mestre's fifth place finish in judo and Manrique Larduet's qualification for three finals in gymnastics, in addition to Nivaldo and Sergio's victory on the city's famous Copacabana beach against Pedro Solberg-Junior Evandro, who won the bronze medal in last year's world championship.
