With a focus on sustainable development for the Greater Caribbean, the 7th Summit of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS-AEC) begins today, June 2, in Havana, with member countries, associates, and representatives of international organizations in attendance.
On the agenda for the first day, in the city's Convention Center, is a meeting of high level officials, while a meeting of Foreign Ministers will take place June 3.
The first two days will be devoted to evaluating the Declaration of Havana and the Action Plan for 2016-2018, which will be approved by the Summit of Heads of State and/or Government, scheduled for the final day of the gathering, June 4.
Cuba assumed the pro tempore presidency of the ACS this past January 19, taking over the responsibility previously held by Haiti, in a ceremony in Port-au-Prince. At that time, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla reiterated Cuba's commitment to continue working for Caribbean integration and the revitalization of the regional organization.
