On the fifth day, the 24th International Book Fair continues to attract thousands of people to its main headquarters at the Ca¬baña Fortress. The important literary event paid tribute to Cuban scientist, Carlos J. Finlay, on the 100th anniversary of his death and to Spaniard, Miguel de Cervantes, on the 400th anniversary of the publication of the second part of El ingenioso hidalgo Don Quijote de la Man¬cha. Meanwhile, in the Dulce María Loy¬naz Cultural Center, young Latin American and Caribbean writers began their customary encounter.

For today, the book fair continues to offer an intense program of activities in its main and sub-headquarters located in the Havana neighborhood of Vedado.

The panel ¡Aquí no se rinde nadie! Pe¬riodismo y literatura en defensa de los Cin¬co will open the program, at 10:00am in the Cabaña’s Nicolás Guillén Hall. In attendance will be the five decorated Heroes of the Republic of Cuba, who will also receive the Dora Alonso Humility Distinction.

A little later in the José A. Por¬tuondo Hall, the Diccionario de cualidades, defectos y otros males del cubano, by Fernando Carr, will be presented.
