Army General,Raúl Castro Ruz, President of the Councils of State and Ministers, returned on March 3, to Cuba, after a three day visit to Uruguay, where he participated in the inauguration of President Tabaré Vázquez, who assumes this position for the second time as representative of the Frente Amplio (Broad Front).

On arrival to the JoséMartíInternationalAirport, Raúl was received by members of the Party Political Bureau, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, first vice president of the Councils of State and Ministers; and Abelardo Colomé Ibarra, minister of the interior.
During his visit to the South American country, the Cuban President met with Tabaré Vázquez; former President of Uruguay, José Mujica and his wife, Senator, Lucía Topolanski; as well as Eduardo Lorier, secretary general of the Communist Party of Uruguay, and other members of the political organization. He was also presented with the Key to the City of Montevideo, an honor which was also bestowed on Comandante en Jefe, Fidel Castro Ruz, in 1995.
This visit, Raúl’s first to the nation of José Gervasio Artigas, demonstratedthe excellent relations which unite the two countries and contributed to further strengthening their bonds of fraternity, because as the Army General expressed “We feel a deep love for Uruguay.”
