MATANZAS.— With the removal of temporary scaffolding and structures which made possible the realization of the most difficult works, repairs to the BacunayaguaBridge will finally be completed, realized over the course of three years, at a cost of more than three million pesos.

Thanks to these works the viaduct once again functions at its original load baring capacity with a 20 year guarantee, stated Reynaldo Hernández Rodríguez, provincial director of Highway Administration, also noting that it will however be necessary to carry out essential maintenance works over these 20 years.
This week we will remove the scaffolding, rails and fixings, after which both lanes will be open to traffic, he said.
Engineer, Julio Canito, deputy director of the provincial Highway Administration Centre, emphasized the quality of the repair works and highlighted the fact that no accidents occurred, despite the height of the bridge and the force of the winds, conditions which further complicated the process.
