OFFICIAL VOICE OF THE COMMUNIST PARTY OF CUBA CENTRAL COMMITTEE

Esteban Lazo Hernández, president of the National Assembly of People’s Power, stated this morning that the act of voting should not be considered a formality, “It is voting for the homeland, a right of citizenship which is also a civic duty which we must fulfill.”

This morning, Lazo voted at polling station no.2 in the Havana municipality of Playa’s constituency no.10, commenting to the press that “Within our political system, the municipal delegate is the principal link. I admire them very much. At times, people say they wouldn’t touch such a hot candle, but if we don’t confront problems, they will not be resolved. What we are doing today is decisive to all the progress we are making.”

He continued, “… The delegate is much more that solving problems, this is among the responsibilities, but the delegate represents the maximum authority of our political system, the basic, grassroots authority, in the constituency… the electors choose someone who will represent them.”
