Today Granma begins publishing the images submitted by our readers which have been chosen as finalists by the specialists at the National Center for Protected Areas (CNAP) in the photo competition “Selección fotográfica de las Maravillas naturales de Cuba” (Natural Wonders of Cuba Photo Selection).

Since the call for submissions was published on February 10, over 500 photographs of 130 national sites were received. Not all images submitted met the required characteristics and only 379 were eventually analyzed by experts at CNAP, attached to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment.

Following a rigorous analysis that took into account those photographs showing internationally recognized sites, the best technique and strict criteria, the experts selected 24 sites.

During the month of August we will continue to publish images from the finalists both in our print edition and on our website. The voting to choose the ten Natural Wonders of Cuba will take place beginning in September by return mail or on the web, with details to be announced shortly.
