HAVANA.—Yesterday, activists from the 22nd Latin American Cuba solidarity brigade expressed their intention to celebrate Anti-ignominy Day, on the 17th of every month, in order to strengthen the struggle for the just causes of the people.

The initiative was included in the final declaration of the present edition of the brigade whose visit to Cuba ends today, Friday, with the need to lift the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by Washington on the Cuban people, representing one of the fundamental causes of support.

Karoll Niquinga from Ecuador read out the declaration on behalf of all brigadistas, explaining that the idea stems from the success of events – held on the 5th of every month - for the release of the Five Cuban anti-terrorists, unjustly imprisoned in the U.S.

The experience gained over many years of struggle to secure their freedom, she added, must be used to expand the solidarity movement and strengthen its struggle to defend Cuba.

As part of the closing act of the event, held in the Julio Antonio Mella international camp in the province of Artemisa, members called on participants of the upcoming 8th Continental Solidarity Meeting - to be held July 28-30, 2016 – to strengthen unity and integration among the peoples of the region.
