Reaffirming its commitment to continue working everyday to consolidate the gains achieved, the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC), yesterday August 18, honored a number of founding members, who for over 55 years have defended women’s rights.

At FMC headquarters, three women who worked at Vilma Espin’s side as FMC general secretaries were recognized, Aleyda Masch, Yolanda Ferrer and Dora Carcaño.

Teresa Amarelle Boué, current FMC secretary general and member of the Party Central Committee, said, “Our first thoughts are with Vilma, present in every task we carry out. The FMC has become a distinguished organization among those of this type around the world.”

Also among the honorees was Elsa Gutiérrez Baró, who expressed the optimism FMS members feel saying, “Our struggle has not been easy, that is why we must work with so much love, and with the conviction that the future will bring more conquests. We have always been able to count on Fidel and Raúl and the Revolution, this has been fundamental.”
