The Pontiff has arrived in Santiago de Cuba, the second most populated province on the island which, together with Havana, was also visited by John Paul II in 1998 and Benedict XVI in 2012.

Pope Francis will visit the St Basil The Great Seminary - Hermanos de La Salle School, founded in Santiago de Cuba in 1722. It is the oldest higher education institution in Cuba. Fidel and Raúl Castro both studied here.
