OFFICIAL VOICE OF THE COMMUNIST PARTY OF CUBA CENTRAL COMMITTEE

Cuban President Raul Castro will make an official visit to France, February 1-2, on the invitation of his French counterpart, Francois Hollande, Deputy Foreign Minister Rogelio Sierra announced yesterday, January 18.

Speaking to reporters at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sierra said that the trip to Paris, announced by the Cuban leader on December 29, during the last session of the National Assembly of People’s Power, reflects the excellent state of relations between the two countries, adding that it will give continuity to the successful visit made by President Hollande to Cuba, in May of 2015.

Both leaders have expressed their desire to improve and expand cooperation in a variety of areas.

France and Cuba established diplomatic relations in 1902, and, since 1992, the country has consistently supported Cuba’s resolution in the UN General Assembly denouncing the U.S. blockade.
