
“The concept of an innovative university emphasizes the necessity of constructing institutions capable of transforming themselves constantly, capable of addressing the great challenges of our times and our societies,” asserted Cuba’s Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Rodolfo Alarcón Ortiz, during the opening of the 10th International Congress University 2016, which began yesterday, February 15, in Havana’s Karl Marx Theater, with Vice President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez in attendance.
Also participating in the event, attended by some 2,500 delegates from 60 countries, are intellectuals Frei Betto, Atilio Borón, Ignacio Ramonet and Nobel Prize winner José Manuel Ramos-Horta, in addition to Dr. Qiang Tang, UNESCO deputy director general.
