The First Vice President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, received Her Excellency Alicia Bárcena, Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), this Thursday, March 24, during a visit to the island.
During the friendly meeting, the two addressed issues relating to the updating of the Cuban economic model. They also agreed on the common will to further cooperative ties between Cuba and ECLAC.
Bárcena ratified ECLAC’s willingness to continue providing all possible assistance to Cuba. She said it was an honor to accompany Cuba in the process of updating its economic model.
Bárcena was accompanied by Hugo Beteta, director of ECLAC’s Subregional Headquarters in Mexico, and Raúl García Buchaca, deputy executive secretary for Administration and Programme Planning.
Participating on the Cuban side was William Díaz Menéndez, director of International Economic Organizations of the Ministry for Foreign Trade and Investment.
