
Efforts to support the updating of the Economic and Social Policy Guidelines of the Party and Revolution, approved during the 7th Party Congress; the end of year budget report for 2015; progress made on implementing the economic plan during the first half of the year; and projections for the remainder of 2016, will be key topics debated during the 7th Ordinary Period of Sessions of the Eight Legislature of the National Assembly of Peoples Power.
According to Miriam Brito Sarroca, National Assembly secretary, prior to the session which will be held July 8 in the Havana Convention Center, the permanent work commissions with meet July 4-6.
Relevant commissions will review and discuss the Policy Guidelines, 7th Party Congress Central Report; as well as closing speeches made by leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz and President of the Councils of State and Ministers of Cuba, Army General Raúl Castro Ruz.
Other important issues to be addressed by the permanent commissions will be the status of implementation of proposals from the population; tackling illegalities, social indiscipline, crime and corruption, as well as projected activities for the coming year, stated Brito Sarroca.
Important issues affecting Cuban society will also be analyzed by deputies in economic, services, food and agriculture commissions, which will review the social impact of measures adopted to raise the value of the Cuban peso, and strengthen tax and credit initiatives in order to support increased agricultural production.
40 years after it was founded the National Assembly of Peoples Power is once again bringing deputies together to discuss important issues affecting contemporary Cuban society.
