CUETO, Holguín.—The 6 de Agosto semi-boarding school, located in Birán, will host the Generations’ Dialogue event, with the theme Fidel and youth. The event will see more than 400 young people from various parts of the island come together on Friday, August 12, as part of celebrations to mark the 90th birthday of the leader of the Revolution.
Personalities from Holguín and other regions of the country will participate, who in undertaking their professional duties have had the opportunity to share moments with the Comandante en Jefe and appreciate his dynamic and creative way of working, according to Héctor Miguel Niles Ávalo, president of the Martí Youth Movement in the province and one of the organizers of the event.
Among those due to speak are Heroine of Labor Pura Avilés, a close friend of Fidel’s mother and prominent doctor, specializing in intensive care, who will address issues related to the development of public health care.
The President of the Federation of Cuban Women in the province will refer to specific examples of the work done to implement Fidel’s concepts on women’s rights and the constant monitoring and support provided by him in this field.
As the event seeks to promote a dialogue, the young people in attendance will have the opportunity to discuss tasks they have fulfilled and their aspirations, in which the thinking of the revolutionary leader is always present.
The event will begin with the opening of a photographic exhibition on Fidel, by young artists from the province of Granma. Winning works from the annual “De donde crece la palma” national contest, held in Jiguaní, May 19, to mark the death in combat of José Martí, will also be exhibited.
In addition to the informative dialogue, the youths will undertake further activities, including the planting of 90 fruit and timber trees, as well as the traditional campout at the Birán Historic Site, in order to participate in the celebrations that will take place from the morning of Saturday, August 13.
