The link between the workforce’s efforts and production results, Fidel’s role in the struggle to unite workers, and the influence of Martí’s ideas on the trade union movement, are all set to be highlighted during the national celebration for the 78th anniversary of the Cuban Workers’ Federation (CTC).

This, according to Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento, a member of the Communist Party of Cuba Political Bureau and CTC secretary general, on announcing plans this January 11, for the upcoming celebration which, as is customary, will be dedicated to José Martí, on the 164th anniversary of his birth.

The trade union leader reported that the central act marking 78 years since the founding of the CTC by Lázaro Peña González and his supporters, will be held in Ciego de Ávila, given the province’s outstanding economic, productive and union results.

Furthermore, exceptional achievements by workers in the fields of production, services, teaching and research will be recognized during the national celebration.

The unity of the people, their historic memory, the values of the working class, all of which have made Cuba a nation able to resist, develop and sustain its Revolution for over five decades, will also be highlighted.
