Schools reopened their doors to children, adolescents and young people across the island. Parents and grandparents proudly snapped photos of their little ones among the huge lines of uniform colors. The National Anthem was sung. Classrooms overflowed with excitement. Teachers handed out books, with a sprinkling of love. Nothing was demanded in return, just a smile.
To come are days of study; loves discovered; the endless joy of camp outs, festivals, friends gathering by the light of a campfire; equations and books that challenge.
Once again, Cuba celebrated the beginning of the school year on September 4, as those essential doors opened, ready to forge the future, fill backpacks with dreams, build expectations, and offer beautiful moments; shaping the lives of all those who pass through them.
