After the conclusion, tomorrow June 2, of the extraordinary session of the National Assembly of People’s Power, deputies will continue plenary meetings the next day, Sunday the 3rd, at Havana’s international Conference Center as part of their preparation to better perform their duties.
On this occasion, issues related to legislative procedures in general, and Constitutional reform in particular, will be explained, as well as details on the authorities and functioning of the National Assembly, the Council of State, and standing committees.
On June 4, in different halls at the Conference Center, deputies will meet in the standing committees in which they will participate, to review the work of the previous legislature in their respective areas of focus and consider plans for the 2018-2023 period.
Next, in the same groupings, deputies will be provided information on the role of central state administration bodies and organizations related to the different spheres each standing committee addresses, within the framework of the Political and Economic Policy Guidelines of the Party and the Revolution.
The Extraordinary Session was called by the Council of State, in accordance with Article 90 Section a) of the Constitution, to take place Saturday June 2, beginning at 10:00 a.m. to address the following agenda:
1. Approval of the conformation of the National Assembly’s standing committees
2. Approval of parliamentary friendship groups
3. Analysis of the final report on the government experiment conducted in the provinces of Artemisa and Mayabeque
4. Approval of the process to be followed in carrying out Constitutional Reform and the commission of deputies responsible for drafting and presenting the proposed Constitution of the Republic
