The President of the Councils of State and Ministers of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, announced through his official Twitter account a meeting held with foreign businesspeople representing the tourism sector, currently visiting Cuba to participate in the International Tourism Fair, FITCuba 2019.

The Cuban President assured them that their “companies in the country enjoy full legal safeguards under Law 118 on Foreign Investment and Law 80 on the Reaffirmation of Cuban Dignity and Sovereignty,” despite the constant threats of the U.S. government against the island, and the growing number of lawsuits filed under the illegal Title III of the Helms-Burton Act.

In another tweet, Díaz-Canel highlighted that the announcements of U.S. government figures against Cuba and Venezuela “pursue the same objective and are part of the perverse, arrogant and interfering Monroe plan of the Northern empire. Our noble peoples will defend independence and sovereignty.”
