Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee, and Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, President of the Councils of State and Ministers, on July 24 held meetings with Sergey Victorovich Lavrov, minister Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, on an official visit to Cuba.

In both meetings, satisfaction with the excellent state of bilateral relations, based on the historical ties of friendship between the two peoples and governments was reiterated in a cordial, friendly environment, and the leaders agreed to work to further strengthen these. Topics on the international agenda were also discussed.

Joining the distinguished visitor were the Russian Federation’s ambassador in Cuba, Andrei A. Guskov, and Alexander V. Shchetini, director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Latin American Department.

Present on the Cuban side, during the two meetings, was Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla. Emilio Lozada, general director of Bilateral Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, additionally participated in the Cuban President’s meeting with Lavrov.
