
The President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, received Saleumxay Kommasith, foreign minister from the Democratic People’s Republic of Laos, who is conducting an official visit to our country.
During the fraternal meeting, the two leaders discussed the excellent state of their countries’ bilateral relationship, which on November 4 reached its 45th anniversary. Both parties reaffirmed the intention to continue deepening the historical ties of brotherhood shared by the two nations. The Cuban President also recalled his visit to Laos in November of last year, and other issues of regional and international interest were addressed, as well.
Accompanying the distinguished visitor were Khaykhamphithoune Phoxay, permanent secretary of the Laotian Foreign Ministry, and Anouphone Kittirath, the nation’s ambassador in Cuba.
Also participating on the Cuban side were Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ana Teresita González Fraga, and the ministry’s director for Asia and Oceania, Alberto Blanco Silva.
