Hundreds of primary and secondary school students from Havana municipalities surrounding the Plaza de la Revolución filled the esplanade in front of the monument to José Martí, as they do every year to pay tribute to Cuba’s national hero, on the 167th anniversary of his birth with the customary commemoration and parade.
The excitement began long before sunrise, with poetry, music and song. This new generation of Cubans is studying Martí and his example is accompanying them as they set the course of their lives.
