Yesterday afternoon, March 19, the Cuban Ministry of Public Health reported that five new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed, three by the molecular lab at the Provincial Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology Center in Santiago de Cuba, and two by the National Reference Laboratory at the Pedro Kourí Institute of Tropical Medicine (IPK), for a total of 16 in the country.

The five patients identified yesterday include a French citizen visiting the province of Bayamo; an Italian who had contact with the first coronavirus cases in Trinidad, who is now in Holguín; a young Cuban woman who recently returned from Italy; a Spanish citizen staying in Havana; and a Canadian tourist, also in Havana. All are hospitalized in stable condition and responding positively to treatment, at this time.
