
The first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee, Army General Raul Castro, and the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of the nation, Nguyen Phu Trong, held a fraternal telephone conversation following the celebration of the 13th Congress of the Vietnamese organization.
Raul congratulated his friend Phu Trong on his re-election as head of the Vietnamese party and conveyed his appreciation of the results of the Congress, while thanking the sister country for its unconditional support of the Cuban Revolution.
Both leaders emphasized the friendship, solidarity and mutual confidence that have united the two peoples, parties and governments over six decades of exemplary relations, and reaffirmed the decision to continue strengthening the historic ties of brotherhood forged by leaders Fidel Castro Ruz and Ho Chi Minh.
