
Of the 138,246 job-hunters who have turned to municipal labor directorates, a total of 83,732 accepted positions offered, and of these 37% were women and 31% young, reported Minister of Labor and Social Security Marta Elena Feitó, on Twitter.
This renewed interest in work on the part of women is a reflection of the impact of monetary reordering, which has as one of its goals reducing the economically inactive population. Seventy-eight percent of working women are employed in the state sector, and of the 1,506,700 workers in the non-state sector, 384,900 are female.
Last March 8, the extraordinary Official Gazette No. 14 published Presidential Decree No.198 of 2021, thus formalizing approval of the National Program for the Advancement of Women, which includes nine specific objectives ranging from the achievement of more regular governmental follow-up on efforts to promote the advancement of women, to the inclusion of gender issues in curricula at various levels of education, in the training of cadres, as well as promoting public debate on the role of women in all areas.
