Focused on the premise that the 8th Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba remains alive and nothing agreed upon can be delayed, or worse, not implemented, the Political Bureau, led by its First Secretary and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, this past week.

On this occasion, a document was approved that summarizes the most important ideas, concepts and guidelines included in the 8th Congress Central Report, the closing speech and documents approved by its working commissions, which will be made available to all cadres and local branches of the Party and Young Communist League, as well as leaders of mass organizations and the government.

Rogelio Polanco Fuentes, head of the Central Committee’s Ideological Department, presented details of this important document which will contribute to political-ideological efforts and debates among members wherever they conduct their work.

The printed version will also be available for download on the Party’s website, as well as those of the media, mass organizations and Central State Administration agencies, while the University of Computer Sciences has developed an application to allow consultation of the pamphlet, which can be downloaded from Apklis, Cuba's official Android application store.

We must give the Congress careful follow-up, Díaz-Canel said, to ensure that nothing is delayed and that we are seeking the changes needed in the Party’s efforts and a proper working relationship between the Party, the state, the government and mass organizations, with "each one playing its role."

Party Political Bureau members also evaluated preliminary drafts of new laws addressing the Courts of Justice, Administrative Processes, the Procedural Code, and Criminal Processes. They also analyzed the draft Decree-Law on Electoral Violations and its Effects.

These preliminary bills were prepared in accordance with the tenth transitory provision of the new Constitution of the Republic, which charged the Governing Council of the People's Supreme Court with this legislative initiative.

Each of the drafts include references to precepts that were established in our Magna Carta, which notably reinforced the regimen of the people’s rights and guarantees, as is the case in these proposals which mandate full access to justice and due process, both in the judicial and administrative arenas. Following this step, these norms will be submitted to the National Assembly of People's Power for approval.

Also discussed during the meeting were issues related to the country's economic situation.
