First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez held a cordial, fruitful telephone conversation, on August 29, with the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, whom he thanked for his country’s permanent support and solidarity with Cuba since the beginning of the pandemic.
Both parties agreed that significant progress has been achieved in the development of bilateral relations, and the articulation of positions taken in international forums. Also acknowledged were the close inter-party relations shared, based on mutual political trust and commitment to the same ideals and goals.
President Díaz-Canel thanked Xi Jinping for his country's permanent support in the struggle to end the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba.
This is the second occasion on which the two leaders have exchanged views this year, an expression of the priority they give to the strong ties of friendship and cooperation that unite the two countries.
