Yesterday morning, November 18, the 2021 Moncada Strategic Exercise began nationwide, with the presence of Army General Raúl Castro Ruz; Communist Party Central Committee First Secretary Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez; President of the National Assembly of People's Power Esteban Lazo Hernández; Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz, as well as other leaders and chief military officers.
The principal objective of the two-day exercise is to evaluate the actions to identify, prevent and handle hazardous situations, threats and attacks on the country's security, in the context of the non-conventional war being waged by the U.S. government against Cuba.
In addition, exercises to contribute to the preparation and cohesion of participating forces are conducted, with a preventive focus and popular participation on the local level.
Chief officers, as well as command and leadership bodies are participating, in accordance with plans outlined in Resolution 001 of the President of the National Defense Council, and taking into account the improved epidemiological situation.
This year’s National Defense Day is scheduled for Saturday, November 20, and includes training activities for popular forces, defense zones, units of the Revolutionary Armed Forces and the Ministry of Interior, in the interest of ensuring preparedness to complete the missions conceived in our guiding doctrine: war of the entire people.
