"This people is deserving, and this people has shown its tremendous capacity to resist and not letting itself be defeated," stated Party First Secretary and President of the Republic Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, presiding the most recent meeting of the Council of Ministers, where drafts were approved of the 2022 Economic Plan and State Budget, to be analyzed by deputies during the next session of the National Assembly of People's Power.
With this disposition, this mentality, we must defend the Economic Plan, knowing that we are doing it under very adverse conditions, Díaz-Canel stressed during the meeting, which was led by Party Political Bureau member and Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz.
We must do it in an inspiring manner, he emphasized, because of what this people has done, in the midst of the aggression to which we have been subjected, plus the effects of the pandemic, is a heroic accomplishment. And it has a lot to do with the tenacity with which we have worked, with the determination, with the commitment. Mistakes have been made, there are things that have not gone well, but this tenacity is proving us right over time, he said.
Alejandro Gil Fernández, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Planning noted that after two years of contraction of the Cuban economy, beginning in the second half of 2021, a gradual process of recovery was observed, which is expected to continue over the course of 2022.
