Revolución, la obra más hermosa (Revolution, the most beautiful work) is a compilation of speeches, interviews and remarks by Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, presented yesterday at the Havana International Book Fair. The two volumes include 138 public statements by made Raúl between 2006 and 2019.
This is the first title released by the new publishing house Ediciones Celia, presented initially on June 2, 2021, on the eve of Raúl's 90th birthday. It is available to readers in both printed and digital formats.
At the book launch, Abel Prieto noted that the volumes’ contents address some of the most momentous moments in the country's recent history, including Fidel's departure from government responsibility, the reestablishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and the United States, the return of our Five Heroes imprisoned in the U.S. and the death of the Comandante en jefe.
He commented that readers of the book will note the common ideals, values ​​and principles shared by the two brothers who led the Cuban Revolution, referring to Raúl as the undisputed second in command of the revolutionary process.
Jorge Luis Aneiro, head of the Presidency of the Republic’s Office of Historic Affairs and president of the National Union of Cuban Historians, stated that the book’s release "is a recognition of the life and work of Raúl Castro and a contribution to knowledge of his coherent political thought, consistent with the principles he defends.”
In brief comments, writer Ignacio Ramonet emphasized the importance of documenting the critical role Raúl played during the time he served as President.
Among the dignitaries attending the book launch were Minister of Culture Alpidio and Evo Morales Ayma, former President of the Plurinational State of Bolivia.
