Articulating the work of all the country’s economic actors, with different forms of management and ownership, and development of their potential, were the central objectives of the Second Economic-Productive Conference Cuba-2022, held June 7-14 in Havana.
First Deputy Minister of Economy and Planning Leticia Morales González, addressed participants at the headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce, emphasizing that the conference was organized as an ideal opportunity to develop greater coordination, to strengthen and implement the nation's economic-social strategy for the year.
She reported that the national economy is gradually recovering, boosted fundamentally by exports of vaccines and the reactivation of tourism, supported by other measures projected in the strategy that, if fully implemented, will allow for growth of 4% in the Gross Domestic Product, as compared to last year.
Referring to the year’s 3,657 new economic actors, to date, Morales noted that these include 3,553 micro, small and medium sized private companies (mypimes), 53 non-agricultural cooperatives and 51 small state enterprises. These actors have generated some 60,000 new jobs.
She added that industrial production remains insufficient to meet demand in Cuban pesos, which has generated macroeconomic imbalances, and that most monetary liquidity remains in the informal market.
NEW CUBAN BUSINESS GUIDE
The Cuban Business Guide was presented during the event, a directory developed to facilitate productive articulation among the country's economic actors and promote new business opportunities.
The text includes reliable basic information on 369,114 economic actors across the island, said Ramón Labañino Salazar, vice president of the National Association of Economists and Accountants of Cuba (ANEC).
This directory is the result of joint work between ANEC, the Cuban Telecommunications Company (Etecsa), the private company Dofleini S.R.L. with the collaboration of the National Tax AdministrationOffice, the National Office of Statistics and Information, and the Ministry of Economy and Planning.
