Matanzas -A murmur of admiration caused here the presence of the multi-champion Mijaín López, who decided to share at least a few minutes with the troop of brave men who had been fighting a fire of great magnitude in the industrial zone of the city of Matanzas for several days.
Perhaps, the members of the Firemen's Command located at the Supertankers Base could not have imagined they would receive this encouragement in such fateful circumstances.
The four-time Olympic champion showed his admiration for the feat of these other champions, to whom he addressed words of encouragement in affectionate terms.
“I am convinced that you will triumph," he told them as if he were speaking to gladiators preparing for a demanding match.
“I came to express my solidarity to the people of Matanzas, brave people who have spent a few days of torment, and in particular to the firefighters who have accustomed us to these heroic deeds,” said Mijaín.
“You are true heroes, even capable of putting their lives at risk to save the people of Cuba,” he said emotionally.
The firefighters took the opportunity to thank the invincible fighter and take pictures -which they will surely keep for the rest of their days- with one of the greatest symbols of the Cuban sports movement.
