Children's theater company La Colmenita (the little beehive) – a company that educates the audiences with the sweetness of talent- and its director Carlos Alberto “Tin” Cremata Malberti received yesterday the Félix Varela Order of First Degree from the hands of the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.

For more than 30 years, this group of hard-working bees has become a model of pedagogical mastery and has developed "a praiseworthy artistic, social and humanitarian work" both inside and outside our country, turning art into a way of "forming and spreading the work of the good citizen".

Like Varela and Martí, the people who compose La Colmenita -children, workers and parents- have decided to think, love and build a more cultivated and just country, where history and ethical values are constant in the formation of the youngest generations. This is why they are the first theater group in the world to be appointed UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors.

Numerous generations of young creators have started their careers in La Colmenita. Some have gone on to become professional artists; others, have chosen other life paths. However, all of them are distinguished by the same feeling, by the certainty that, on any stage of life, having talent must come with having a kind heart.

“Tin” Cremata is an artist and educator, a creator of a work that for more than three decades has masterfully united art and society, was also recognized for "forging better human beings, patriots and citizens, in addition to promoting the consolidation of cultural identity and the development of relations between our country and other peoples through his work."

Even though the objective of the company is not to train artists, but to be a space to bring together the families and where children go to play music, dance and theater -as Tin has said on several occasions-, La Colmenita has become "a community and a school that remains".
