The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, went on Wednesday afternoon to the Embassy of Türkiye in Havana, where he signed the book of condolences opened in honor of the victims of the earthquake.
"On behalf of the Cuban people and Government, I express our heartfelt condolences to the people and Government of Türkiye, and we extend them to the families and relatives of the victims of the earthquake of great intensity that affected the country, causing human losses, injuries and material damage.
"In this particularly difficult moment, the Turkish people and its authorities can count on Cuba's full solidarity," wrote the head of state, who spoke with His Excellency Vehbi Esgel Etensel, ambassador of that nation, and other members of that legation.
Díaz-Canel sent a greeting of support to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in these hard times his country is going through, and inquired with diplomats about the situation in the regions affected by the earthquake.
The Cuban President was accompanied by Gerardo Peñalver Portal, first deputy minister of Foreign Affairs; Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo, deputy minister; and Gisela García Rivera, director of Europe and Canada of the Foreign Ministry.
