On May 25, Cubans put on their parliamentary strengths, those that allow the people to feel in power through their representatives. Thus, the nation was given a Social Communication Law, the first legal proposal on this matter to be promoted in the country, inspired by the legacy of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, the great communicator of the Revolution, with his gift of listening, understanding and always being accountable to the people.

In the presence of the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, the Second Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly of People's Power (ANPP in Spanish) in its tenth Legislature, led by president Esteban Lazo Hernández, the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez reflected on the new regulation.

Before being submitted for approval, the Head of State said that what the Assembly was called to approve is fundamentally the design of a framework of possibilities aimed at the development of the social communication system in Cuba, which has also been conceived as a pillar of the Government. He affirmed that it should continue to be articulated and developed, and include aspects related to institutional and community communication.

Among the challenges are, he said, the conceptions and interpretation of communication in the digital sphere, and its integration with the rest of the system. He also underlined the importance of recognizing and adding the role of people in the organizational and media spheres.

In the session, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Planning, Alejandro Gil Fernández, reviewed the main problems that exist today, and focused on prices, which he described as the most critical point in the fight against inflation, of which he said: "the way forward is more production, and within that, agricultural production, to increase the food supply, which is where the highest inflation is concentrated."

On this and on other issues, the President of the ANPP emphasized that action must be taken in the neighborhoods. He said that this is where the problems are and it is where they must be solved, with the engagement and monitoring of the neighbors, to transform the current situation.

The deputies also listened to an in-depth speech by Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla on the blockade and how it is responsible for the problems faced by Cuba. The legislative schedule, the working commissions of the ANPP and its parliamentary groups were also approved.
