Personalities and institutions received the 50th Anniversary Seal of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic, in the national act for the five decades of the foundation of this State organ.

Yesterday, in the Universal Hall of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, presented the recognition for 50 years of service to six founders of the institution, who are still working in the Prosecutor General's Office.

In a special way, the Attorney General of the Republic, Yamila Peña Ojeda, presented the Toga al Mérito, a highly significant recognition, to the Commander of the Rebel Army José Ramón Machado Ventura, who, from his responsibilities in the Party, remained closely linked to the fulfillment of the functions of the Prosecutor's Office.

In the central words of the celebration -in which members of the Political Bureau were present, together with other leaders of the Party, the State and the Government- the Attorney General recalled the generations of women and men who have devoted their lives to the defense of society and the socialist rule of law.

She reviewed the history of the foundation, on December 23, 1973, and the challenges in the face of the complexities of the new times.

"Unity with the Party and the heroic Cuban people of which we are part, guides us to overcome difficulties. It is up to us to continue acting from the fulfillment of our mission, in the defense of the construction of our prosperous and sustainable, inclusive and participatory socialism, a socialism where utopias are never extinguished," he said.

SYSTEM OF COURTS OF JUSTICE: GOOD PRACTICES, ETHICS AND HUMANISM

The President of the People's Supreme Court, Rubén Remigio Ferro, described as an extraordinary milestone that marked the beginning of a new and superior institutionality, transcendental in the history of Cuban law and judicial justice, the creation of the Court System, which will celebrate its 50th anniversary on December 23.

The foundational date was commemorated in a central act which was also attended by President Díaz-Canel, together with several members of the Political Bureau, authorities of the Government, the National Assembly of People's Power, the Far and the Minint, as well as a representation of lawyers and magistrates. Specially invited was the Commander of the Rebel Army, José Ramón Machado Ventura.

Remigio Ferro said that the Cuban system for imparting justice has been characterized by good practices, ethics, humanism, training and preparation of human resources, as well as the promotion of a legal culture.

He added that, in half a century, the courts of justice and their jurisdictions, their magistrates, judges and the rest of the personnel have more than proved their worth and relevance for the most coherent, effective and transparent exercise of justice, and emphasized that the greatest satisfaction and the greatest "is to have the confidence of the population, the Party and the institutions of the Revolution".

For their daily dedication and valuable contribution in the administration of justice and contributions to the mission of the Cuban courts, three valuable jurists received the award for Judicial Merit: Yamila Peña Ojeda, Attorney General of the Republic; José Luis Toledo Santander, president of the Constitutional and Legal Affairs Commission of the National Assembly, and Enidian Silvia Waugh, who served as judge and president of military courts, and head of the People's Provincial Court of Holguín.
