The special significance of the visit to Cuba by the Secretary General of the Communist Party of Spain (PCE in Spanish) and Member of Congress, Enrique Santiago Romero, was highlighted yesterday by the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.
Upon receiving the friend, the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba expressed to Santiago Romero that his arrival allows "to continue strengthening inter-party relations", and spoke about the importance of undertaking joint tasks: "There are many global issues in which we must be sharing ideas; above all, visions from our positions".
Considering that, at a global level, there is a capitalist media scaffolding that is constantly making symbolic constructions, the Head of State argued that there are many issues that are manipulated, "especially for the visions of the left-wing parties, the socialist parties, the communist parties, and also for the Third World".
Díaz-Canel referred to urgent issues such as the environment or the necessary energy transition. He acknowledged that these are essential issues, to which, however, poor countries do not know what their paths with solutions could be. The President shared his perception that, at times, there is also a lack of conceptual constructions on the left, "and we have to work on this together".
The general secretary of the Communist Party of Spain (PCE) and deputy to the Congress, Enrique Santiago Romero, argued that, "if for so long the international communist movement, the progressive forces, knew that capitalism is incompatible with the rights of workers, with a dignified life, today it is clear that it is incompatible with life on the planet". "It is a risk of destruction for the human species," he added.
Enrique Santiago expressed that, for them, the relationship with the Communist Party of Cuba is fundamental.
MEETING BETWEEN CARIBBEAN FRIENDS
"Here we are! We will win!". Thus, with the enthusiasm of friends, said José Miguel Mejía Abreu, secretary general of the United Left Movement Party (MIU in Spanish) and minister of Regional Integration Policies of the Dominican Republic, when he was received yesterday by the President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.
Regarding the attitude that should be assumed by those who have responsibilities in such difficult times as the ones we are living, the Secretary General of the United Left Movement Party shared with his interlocutor a philosophy of battles: "One cannot sit in front of the wall of regrets. You have to fight".
The President sent affectionate greetings to the President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, and invited him to come to the Greater Antilles. He had previously been in September 2023, on the occasion of the Summit of the Group of 77 and China.
In both receptions were also present the member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Roberto Morales Ojeda; as well as Emilio Lozada García, head of the Department of International Relations of the PCC.
