"The path of knowledge is our path, and the university is fundamental to it," said Dr. Walter Baluja, Minister of Higher Education, who also referred to the contribution that this level of education makes to the socio-economic development of nations.
His words opened the University-2024 Congress at the Havana Convention Palace, in the presence of the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, also a Doctor of Science.
The Head of State took part in the opening of the exhibition fair that accompanies the event, which has 37 stands from 24 Cuban universities and three science, technology and research universities.
Social transformation, quality, relevance and sustainability are concepts that define this conclave, attended by 564 delegates from more than 40 countries.
University-2024 will be held until February 9.
